The Engineering Service Division of Eastern University, Sri Lanka, is responsible for the planning, development, operation and maintenance of the infrastructure within the University premises and provides engineering and technical services across the University.

Its responsibilities include the maintenance and improvement of buildings, roads, water supply, electrical systems, drainage, sewerage and other essential facilities. The Division undertakes both preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of university facilities.

The Division also provides technical supervision and support for infrastructure development, construction and improvement projects. Its services extend beyond the main University premises at Vantharumoolai, including the Faculty of Health-Care Sciences at Pillayarady, Batticaloa and Technology premises. The Division works closely with relevant University authorities to identify and address infrastructure and engineering requirements efficiently and effectively.

The Engineering Service Division strives to maintain a safe, functional, sustainable and conducive environment for students, staff and other members of the University community. It is committed to the continuous improvement, effective management and sustainable development of Eastern University’s physical infrastructure.

• Infrastructure Maintenance – Maintain and improve University buildings, roads and other physical facilities.
• Engineering Supervision – Supervise construction, repair, renovation and maintenance works.
• Infrastructure Development – Plan, coordinate and provide technical support for new construction and infrastructure improvement projects.
• Technical Documentation – Prepare estimates, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), technical specifications, drawings and other relevant technical documents.
• Quality Control and Monitoring – Monitor the quality, progress and compliance of construction and maintenance works with relevant standards and specifications.
• Utility Services – Maintain and support the operation of water supply, electrical, drainage, sewerage and other essential utility systems.
• Procurement Support – Prepare technical and Procurement document and provide technical assistance for the procurement of works, services and materials.
• Emergency Maintenance – Respond promptly to urgent repairs, breakdowns and other essential maintenance requirements.
