Workshop on Enhancing Staff Expertise on SLQF and SBSs
The Centre for Quality Assurance of Eastern University, Sri Lanka, successfully conducted a workshop titled "Enhancing Staff Expertise on the Sri Lanka Qualifications Framework (SLQF) and Subject Benchmark Statements (SBSs)" on May 29, 2025. The event was held at the Boardroom of the Faculty of Arts and Culture.
The workshop was organized for the Dean, Heads of Departments, Professors, Senior Academics involved in quality assurance, the Coordinator of the Faculty Quality Assurance Cell, and the Deputy Registrar of the Faculty of Arts and Culture.
The primary aim of the workshop was to strengthen the academic staff's understanding of the SLQF and relevant SBSs in order to enhance their effectiveness in curriculum development and quality assurance practices. Key topics included curriculum enrichment, mapping with SLQF level descriptors, interpretation of SBSs as benchmarks for academic standards, and aligning programs with professional body requirements.
The session was facilitated by Dr. P. Elango, Director of the Centre for Quality Assurance, who provided in-depth guidance on the various qualification levels and descriptors outlined in the SLQF, as well as the formulation of content and learning outcomes aligned with disciplinary standards.
